Can I substitute the Raisins in the Cookies?

If you’re not a fan of raisins, substitute them with chopped walnuts or any of your favorite nuts. Also the golden raisin can be swapped out for the red ones or any other dried fruit, just cut it into small raisin size pieces.

The Best Tea Cookies 

What makes a great tea cookie is a soft, with a hint of crisp, biscuit like cookie, that is not too sweet. The name tea cookies as you may have guest originated from Britain with afternoon tea. Here in America we tend to enjoy cookies most around the holidays.

If you are a tea drinker, like I am, anytime of year is a great time for a tea cookie. And if you are not crazy about a golden raisin cookie, try a chocolate chip butter cookie or a thumbprint cookie that is also fast to make- just 30 minutes. Another of my favorite to enjoy with tea is these vanilla glazed cookies.

Do I need to Soak the Raisins before cooking?

Although not necessary, soaking raisins before adding then to the batter will make them more flavorful and nicer. After all they are dehydrated, which means all the moisture has been removed by the sun, air or mechanical equivalents- which made then dry.

Just 5 Ingredients to make Golden Raisin Tea Cookies

It takes just 20 minutes to make these sweet cookies, and all you need are pantry staple ingredients.

Butter: Unsalted.

Sugar: What’s a cookie without some sweetness, need a 1/2 a cup of sugar for these.

Eggs: 2 eggs.

Flour: Unbleached.

Raisins: Golden raisins are best for this cookie recipe.

Steps

Combine 8 Tablespoons butter and ½ cup sugar in a mixer on low speed. You can also combine with a whisk.

Add 2 eggs and beat the mixture with a mixer on medium speed until well combined.

Add 1 cup raisins and 1 ¾ cup flour and mix well with a spatula or wooden spoon.
