Family
My parents came to the US from the USSR, giving up their birth home passports, when I was 6 years old. They brought 4 young girls and a rug (and a little more). With just a few English words, they worked hard and now happily retired in the tropicals. ☀️
I met my husband back in 2005. We talked on the phone daily and saw each other three times before we got married. We are blessed with three boys and a baby girl.
Image Cooking meets Salad Menu
I started a food blog (imagecooking.com) back in 2013, with the help of my sister-in-law. To save our Russian food recipes for easy access while grocery shopping for ingredients. Plus, it gave me something to do while raising my three boys at home. It turned into a hobby for me whenever I had the chance. Later, I started trying out diets to lose extra baby weight without really understanding how the foods I was eating affect my health. That is why I decided that I wanted to know more about nutrition. I completed my studies as a Certified Nutrition Expert from the Academy of Culinary Nutrition, and later, I also erranded my Plant-Based Certificate from a different school.
During my studies, I realized how unhealthy I was eating. So I opened up a new food blog Saladmenu.com, where I provided my new healthy recipes of delicious salads, soups, and drinks. Plus blog posts about food, nutrition, and health. Later on, I added some specific diet recipes and some Friday treats.
For the longest time, I thought about combining my two sites—all my recipes in one place. After many failed ideas and attempts, I understood that the best way is just to rebrand. New name, new vision. So this is AllWeEat.com, so glad you read this far. ? Welcome to my new site!
I Went Sugar-Free for a Year
First off, sugar isn’t necessarily bad for you—it’s the way that we have been consuming it that can be detrimental to our health. While naturally occurring sugar in fruits and vegetables is part of a healthy diet, added sugar can lead to diseases and illnesses. It is also easy to consume extra calories when eating foods that are sugar-sweetened and makes us crave more sugar. I have been on and off sugar throughout my health journey, but on January 7th, 2019, I went sugar-free for a year, four of the months I was pregnant. After the one-year challenge, I continued to eat less sugar than before; that is why you will find many natural sugar recipes here, such as fruits, vegetables, honey, dates, and maple syrup.
