Health Benefits of Avocados

What I love about avocados is that they are easy to work with, they taste great but most of all, for their nutritional benefits. You can feel good about eating avocados since they come with a long list of healthy benefits.

Some which include:

  • Heart-healthy fatty acids that can help with inflammation.
  • Antioxidants that can assist in eye health.
  • Avocados contain more potassium than bananas.
  • Rich in fiber, which is important to keep the metabolism healthy.

Avocados are not a medical food, and can’t fix all of your health concerns or issues. However, people know them as one of the healthiest fruits. Studies have shown that people who eat avocados daily are healthier. So, why not add this green creamy fruit to your healthy lifestyle?

Expert Tips

  • Substitute fresh garlic for garlic powder if you’re in a hurry or don’t have any on hand. Add red pepper flakes, flaky sea salt, or other easy-to-find spices.
  • Achieve a creamy consistency by blending the ingredients thoroughly. A food processor or blender works well, but a Magic Bullet or immersion blender is handy for small batches.
  • Enjoy this avocado spread as a side dish or starter with pita chips or tortilla chips.

Recipe FAQs:

Can I add other toppings to the toast?

Absolutely! Customize your avocado toast with additional toppings. Use bagel seasoning, poached eggs, feta cheese, fresh herbs, or microgreens for extra flavor and nutrition.

What type of bread works for this avocado recipe?

Opt for bread with a hearty texture, such as whole grain or artisanal bread, to complement the creamy avocado spread. Sourdough bread adds a delicious flavor.

How long does avocado spread last?

The best way to ensure freshness of this avocado spread would be to enjoy it right away. When exposed to air, avocado doesn’t last long before turning brown.

How to season avocado spread?

Season this avocado spread with salt, black pepper, fresh garlic, and hot sauce. You can add fresh cilantro leaves or green onion if you’d like some extra flavor. I enjoy lemon juice in my avocado appetizer for a gentle citrus flavor. Fresh lime juice can add a nice tangy touch.

How to keep avocado spread from turning brown?

Store bought avocado spread is filled with preservatives that keeps the avocado from turning brown right away. When you use fresh ingredients, the avocado will inevitably turn brown after being exposed to air. You can store this avocado appetizer dip in an airtight container with some lemon juice brushed over the top. This way, leftover dip can keep from turning brown for several hours or up to a day.
