This all-from-scratch buttery and spice shrimp with pasta is delicious! The light sauce that is made from scratch + simple ingredients & spices is worth the time. This dish comes together in a large skillet over medium heat.

What is capellini pasta?

Capellini is a very thin variety of Italian pasta. Angel hair pasta is even thinner, but can be used instead of capellini. For best results, cook the pasta according to the package. Make sure to not over boil the pasta in salted water, so you don’t end up having nasty-tasting and soggy noodles.

What can I substitute shrimp for?

While this is a dish recipe for pasta and shrimp, you can skip the shrimp or substitute it for mushrooms, lobster or spinach. The taste of the noodles should not change, but I find the light buttery sauce stands more out with a low calorie, light protein, like shrimp.

How to make the white wine sauce for pasta?

Instead of going out and buying ready-made pasta sauce in a jar with a long shelf life, try making your own! It’s easy.

To make the white wine sauce you will need olive oil, onion, garlic, and white wine. For a little creamy part add some shredded parmesan, and salt and pepper to taste.

Steps

Cook pasta per instructions on the box. It take a few minute for capellini pasta to cook in boiled salted water, so don’t over boil it. When pasta is ready, reserve 1/4 cup of pasta water. Then drain the rest of the pasta. Put pasta back into the pot and stir in the reserved 1/4 cup of water to loosen the pasta.

The sauce totally breaks down with the addition of the vinegar....I had to add cornstarch to thicken the sauce enough to call it a sauce.

This isn't a smooth sauce. The texture doesn't look right.

Hello! I'm planning to prepare this recipe this week. Step 5 says to add garlic? But garlic is not listed in the ingredients, can you please tell me how much garlic I am supposed to add? Thank you so much! I can't wait to try this!
