Chili Garlic Shrimp Stir Fry

This shrimp stir fry recipe is perfect for a family lunch. It's easy to make and is so delicious!

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 small head broccoli, cut into small florets
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced

Stir Fry Sauce

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp ginger, grated
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • cup soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp corn starch
  • ½ lime, juiced
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes
  • Tbsp chili garlic sauce
  • sesame seeds, for serving

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat olive oil. Add shrimp and season with salt and pepper. Cook until golden, for about 5 minutes, stir 1-2 times.  When ready, remove it from the skillet.

  • To the same skillet add sesame oil, broccoli, and bell pepper. Cook until soft on medium heat, about 7 minutes, stirring a few times.

  • Add garlic and ginger and cook for 1 more minute.

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the ingredients for the sauce - soy sauce, cornstarch, lime juice, honey, a pinch of red pepper flakes, and  Chili Garlic Sauce.

  • Add to the skillet and stir to coat.

  • Add shrimp and cook until heated through.

Notes

  • If serving shrimp stir fry over rice, prepare the rice before you start cooking the shrimp stir fry since rice takes a bit longer to cook. 
  • To prepare the sauce ahead of time, mix the sauce ingredients together and keep it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. 
  • You can also chop the broccoli and bell peppers ahead of time and keep them in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to use.
  • Keep leftovers in the refrigerator covered, and when you are ready to reheat add everything to a skillet on medium-low heat until the desired temperature.
