Spinach Puffs with Feta Cheese (Puff Pastry)

These spinach appetizers are a true crowd-pleaser, with a crispy exterior and a creamy, cheesy interior that’s hard to resist. They’re a perfect addition to any party or gathering.

Each bite of these Spinach Puffs is bursting with flavors, from the slightly salty feta and sharp cheddar cheese to the earthy spinach and savory garlic.

Key Ingredients

Fresh spinach: Baby spinach or chopped regular-size spinach.

Minced garlic for a boost of flavor. You will need two garlic cloves.

Butter: Unsalted

Puff pastry: Because you will find puff pastry in the freezer isle, don’t forget to defrost ahead of time.

Cheese: Cheddar cheese and Crumbled Feta Cheese make a great cheesy combination.

Egg: One large one.

How to make Spinach Puffs with Feta Cheese (Puff Pastry)

Step 1: Prep the oven

Preheat the oven to 350 F

Step 2: Heat the pan

Melt the butter in a frying pan.

Step 3: Add in the spinach

Add washed spinach, salt and pepper to taste.

Step 4: Sauté

Saute for 5 min, until the leaves are wilted and the excess water evaporated.

Step 5: Mix with dairy ingredients

Add garlic, sauteed spinach, feta cheese, cheddar cheese, heavy cream and egg to the mixing bowl and stir to combine.

Step 6: Prep the puff pastry

On a flour dusted surface, roll out the puff pastry and cut into 12 equal squares.

Step 7: Fill in the puff pastry

Spray a cupcake tin with some nonstick cooking spray and put a square of dough into each cell. Fill with the spinach and cheese mixture. 

Step 8: Finish with an egg wash

Optionally, you can brush the edges of the dough with some heavy cream and sprinkle it with black sesame seeds.

Step 9: Bake

Bake for 30 min. Once cooled, enjoy!

Can Spinach Puff Pastry Appetizers be made ahead of time?

Short answer, yes. But they won’t taste as fresh. What you could do to simplify your day is to prepare the puffs and put it in the fridge, then bake right before serving. Don’t leave more than a day before baking.

    These spinach puffs are delicious. I left out the sesame seeds this time because i didn’t have any on hand but I think they’ll be great in this recipe. Love recipes that use pressed puff pastry dough

    This would be great to serve to guests too!
