What Is Matcha?
Matcha is a finely ground powder that comes from specially grown green tea leaves. Matcha traditionally comes from East Asia. It has a slightly bitter yet vegetal taste. It also has a vibrant green color that comes from the high level of chlorophyll in the leaves. Although it’s been consumed in Japan and other neighboring countries for centuries, it has just recently gained popularity in the states.
We all know green tea boasts many nutritional benefits. Matcha provides even more nutrition than regular green tea. It’s a powerhouse for antioxidants! I know when I consume matcha tea, I’m always left feeling energized, yet calm. Something normal coffee or tea just doesn’t do sometimes.
You could have a simple matcha latte that’s made from whisking hot water and matcha powder together. Then topped with steamed milk.
Or you could make a smoothie out of it! What you get is a healthy, fulfilling drink that leaves you energized and satiated for hours.
