The craziest summer is coming to an end, so make sure you get all that watermelon in before it’s gone. Right now is actually the perfect time to enjoy watermelons, because they are ripe and sweet!

When produce is in season, it’s a great idea to buy it as fresh as possible (or grow it yourself, if you have a garden)! The benefits in each seasonal product is important to incorporate into your diet during it’s prime season. That way, you not only get the nutrients your body needs but you also have them when the fresh taste & ripeness of the produce is at it’s highest peak.

We have had a few insanely hot days this summer, and today is one of them! And a hot day calls for watermelon agua fresca. We have been trying to get out as much as we can during these last days of warm weather, but with all the forest fires, the air quality isn’t looking so well. This is the perfect afternoon drink for your kids while they are remotely learning. (I am with you here!)

Just How Easy Is It To Put Together a Watermelon Agua Fresca?

The beauty of making drinks is that you get all the nutrients without a lot of effort. First, gather all the ingredients:

Seedless watermelon is naturally hydrating.

Coconut water adds tropical liquids and flavors!

Just a squeeze of juiced lime is perfect in this agua fresca!

The lime in this drink is not only good for juicing. You’ll be using the lime zest, too.

Just a pinch of sea salt!

Finally, you’ll sweeten with honey and add a few mint leaves.

Ah,  so refreshing.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups watermelon, seedless
  • cups coconut water
  • ½ lime, just the juice
  • 2 tsp lime zest
  • 1 pinch sea salt
  • 2 Tbsp honey
  • 10 leaves mint

Instructions

  • Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Serve over ice garnished with watermelon wedge and lime slice.
